Give your Christmas Tree a new purpose

Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity is running their annual Christmas tree recycling service sponsored by Waste Management Facilities. Bookings are now being taken to have your Christmas tree collected between Thursday 8 January and Sunday 11 January 2026 from Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch, East Dorset and Ringwood.

The charity has now been collecting Christmas Trees from the local community to be sustainably recycled to raise money for the disability charity for over 10 years. So, instead of letting your tree wilt in the garden, or filling your car with pine needles on a trip to the tip, why not arrange for your tree to be collected by Diverse Abilities? Where the money raised will be used to support children and adults with disabilities in Dorset, and your tree will be turned into soil and wood chippings that are even used in the charity’s outside space at The Treehouse.

Francesca Potton, community fundraiser at Diverse Abilities, commented: “We’re thrilled to see the return of our Treecycling service for another year. It’s one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and a real community effort. By booking to have your Christmas tree collected by Diverse Abilities you can help us raise vital funds to run our services that support children and adults with disabilities across Dorset.”

Collections can be booked online for a suggested £10 donation, and the charity’s team of volunteers will take to the roads of Dorset over the collection weekend in January to ensure the trees are disposed of sustainably and recycled into wood chippings.

Lisa Delahunty, managing director at Waste Management Facilities Limited, commented: “We’re thrilled to continue working with Diverse Abilities on their Treecycling project again. We will be helping over the collection weekend with the logistics and providing a volunteer team, to collect Christmas trees and raise money to support programmes for children and adults with disabilities across Dorset.”
