Zion Train to headline The Old Fire Station
Reggae Grammy award winners Zion Train will headline the inaugural Dorset Tones event taking place on Friday 10 September at The Old Fire Station, Bournemouth.
Support acts for the night are Guns of Navarone and DJ Dapper Dan, with Dread Steve at The Controls from RMV Sounds.
Zion Train are Dub/Dance pioneers and have been undisputed leaders in the genre for three decades. The band were heavily involved in alternative and DIY underground culture in the UK during the 1990s, as well as being purveyors of Roots Reggae music throughout this period. Their live act includes dynamic onstage dub mixing alongside acoustic instruments and vocals.
Tickets are £12 in advance, available from dorsettones.co.uk, and £15 on the door. Profits from the event will be donated to Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity.
Lamma, part of the Dorset Tones team, commented: We’re really excited about our first show in just a few months’ time with a stellar line-up of reggae and ska beats – everyone’s invited to put on their skankin’ shoes for what promises to be an exciting evening.
“We can’t wait to share everything else that we have in the pipeline so be sure to watch our Dorset Tones social media channels for more exciting announcements.”
Emma Bovey, fundraising manager at Diverse Abilities, added: “Fundraising events are finally back with a bang, and we’re really excited to partner with Dorset Tones in order to help raise more of these vital funds for the people we support. Live music is something we are all really passionate about, and are excited to see the industry start to get back on its feet after a really rough 18 months.”
Dorset Tones events raise funds in aid of Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity. Visit dorsettones.co.uk for more details and sign up to the mailing list for details of future events.
