Spring into crafty fun!

‍ ‍

Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s Disability Charity, is offering new craft activities to their craft clubs this Spring and Summer.

There’s a range of craft workshops, so you can try something different either with a group of friends or come along, meet new people and hopefully gain a new hobby.

Dried Flower Bouquets ‍ ‍

Tuesday 14th April – 6pm-8pm ‍ ‍

Brothers Farm, Stapehill Road, Wimborne, BH21 7ND

Using flowers grown on site at Brothers Farm, you will be guided through the process of making your very own bouquet.

You will learn the techniques involved, as well as sharing advice on care and conditions to help preserve dried blooms for as long as possible. We’ll also be looking at how to manipulate dried flowers to create a unique arrangement for your home.

Beginners Macrame‍ ‍

Tuesday 12th May – 6pm-8pm ‍ ‍

The Treehouse, Merritown Lane, Christchurch, BH23 6DT

You’ll learn the essential foundation knots, including the lark’s head and square knot, and discover how simple techniques can create stunning textures and patterns. With step-by-step guidance, you’ll create up to 4 gorgeous projects to take home:

  • Macrame keyring - a stylish, practical accessory that’s perfect for keys or bags,

  • Macrame bracelet - a handmade piece of wearable art, ideal for gifting (or keeping!),

  • Decorative macrame leaf - a soft, boho-inspired piece that looks beautiful hung on a wall, bag, or as seasonal decor,

  • Starfish mat - a coastal decoration which would also be great as a mug mat.

Watercolour Workshop ‍ ‍

Wednesday 1st July – 6pm-8pm ‍ ‍

Langside School, Langside Avenue, Poole, BH12 5BN

Hosted by local watercolour artist Lynda Larke, you’ll learn the techniques of watercolours, as well as create your own masterpiece to take home.

Over the course of the evening Lynda will explain the different techniques of watercolours including dry brushing, layering colours, washes, and using salts.

Block Printing ‍ ‍

Tuesday 1st September – 6pm-8pm ‍ ‍

The Treehouse, Merritown Lane, Christchurch, BH23 6DT

Led by Sunny Bunny Crafts, this workshop will teach you all about the basics of printing with Indian Printing Blocks.

There’s a selection of different patterns, shapes, animals, icons, letters, etc. to choose from so we’ll start off practising on scrap fabric and you’ll make a tea towel to take home with you.

Demi Tarrant, events executive at Diverse Abilities commented: “We are really looking forward to our new craft club events. It’s a great opportunity to spend an evening doing something different and taking home something you have created. You will also be raising money for a local charity supporting children and adults with disabilities.”
