Outdoor Holiday Club launching at The Treehouse

An exciting new outdoor learning experience is being launched at The Treehouse in Hurn, near Bournemouth Airport.

‘Nature Nook’ is a welcoming outdoor space designed to inspire curiosity, confidence and creativity through nature-based learning. The Nature Nook holiday club is for children aged 8 to 14 during the school holidays to enjoy a range of nature-based activities such as fire lighting, green wood crafts, and den building.

The Holiday Club takes place every Monday and Thursday during the school summer holidays. Each day’s activities are shaped by the interests and choices of the children, and the trained leader if there to support and help bring their ideas to life.

Alongside games, sports, and creative crafts, children will learn tool skills with a strong focus on safety, proper technique, and respect for the tools they are using. There will be both individual and group projects, and ultimately, the holiday clubs are a chance for children to make new friends, have fun, and discover a new hobby or skills in a safe and inclusive outdoor environment.

The sessions are being run by Diverse Abilities by a team with strong experience of supporting children with special educational needs, this particular holiday club is designed for children who can take part safely and independently in a group setting, without the need for additional staffing or 1:1 support.

Lily Felstead, Short Breaks Deputy Manager at Diverse Abilities, commented: “We are really looking forward to welcoming people to the Nature Nook for some engaging outdoor sessions for all ages. We’ve got fantastic activities in our Nature Nook forest school area, including mud kitchens, a fire pit, den building, outdoor skills and a changing place, which we can’t wait to open up to the wider community.”

The Nature Nook Holiday Club is a drop off session so parents and carers will not be able to remain on site during the day.

Sessions take place from 8.30am until 3pm, and are £35 per child. Sessions can be extended to 4pm for a £5 surcharge.
