New Home Ed Forest School Sessions in Dorset
An exciting new outdoor learning experience is being launched at The Treehouse in Hurn, near Bournemouth Airport.
‘Nature Nook’ is a welcoming outdoor space designed to inspire curiosity, confidence and creativity through nature-based learning including new sessions for young people ages between 6 and 18 years who are out of school or in alternative provision to spend time in our Nature Nook learning a range of nature-based skills and taking part in physical activities such as wide games, sports and obstacle courses.
The Home Ed sessions take place every Thursday during Dorset term time between 12.30pm and 2.30pm and cost £8.50 per child. All young people must be accompanied by a parent or carer.
During sessions young people can expect to learn how to safely use and maintain various tools, including bushcraft knives, mallets, saws and axes.
The sessions are being run by Diverse Abilities by a team with strong experience of supporting children with special educational needs, however these sessions are open to all children, including those without additional needs.
Lily Felstead, Short Breaks Deputy Manager at Diverse Abilities, commented: “We are really looking forward to welcoming people to the Nature Nook for some engaging outdoor sessions for all ages. We’ve got fantastic activities in our Nature Nook forest school area, including mud kitchens, a fire pit, den building, outdoor skills and a changing place, which we can’t wait to open up to the wider community.”
