Where we collect information
Directly
If you sign up for one of our events, send an enquiry, donate, purchase one of our products or communicate with us, we will ask for your information to process your request.
Indirectly
If you take part in an event managed by an independent event organisers for example the Bournemouth Marathon or fundraise on sites like JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving your data may be shared with us. In these instances, the third-party organisations will only share your data with us with your consent or if you have shown that you wish to support Diverse Abilities. In some cases, we may access information made public like Companies House or articles published in newspapers/magazines.

Payment information
When you provide your payment information we transmit it via an encrypted (SSL) connection to our Payment Processor Stripe. We only share necessary information for the purposes of processing your payments on our website, refunding payment and dealing with complaints and queries relating to your payments or refunds.

On every form, we will ask for your consent to contact you to let you know the difference you are making or to ask for donations or other support. All forms have a clear marketing preference statement and we include information on how to change how or when you receive information from us. We may collect information from children, we aim to manage this data in a way which is appropriate to the age of the child. This information is usually collected when children attend our events or fundraise for us.

The periods of which we keep your information depend on the purposes we collected the data, this will be set out clearly in each instance. We will not keep your personal information for longer than necessary for our charitable purposes or for legal requirements.

Diverse Abilities will ensure that your data is protected through a series of technical controls including encryption and the necessary security on our website.
We will also ensure that your data is only accessible to appropriately trained staff and volunteers.
When processing some of our activities we will share your details with third parties such as mailing houses or our email marketing service. When sharing data, we will ensure we have a Data Processing Agreement in place and take steps to make sure they provide an adequate level of protection in accordance with UK data protection law.
Some of our suppliers run their operations outside of the European Economic Area (EEA), we will ensure that these suppliers provide an adequate level of protection in accordance with UK data protection law. By submitting your personal information to us you agree to this transfer, storing and processing at a location outside the EEA.
