Milldown Academy raises money through minithon

Milldown Academy, the Church of England school in Blandford for children aged 5 to 13, hosted their own minithon for Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity.

On Friday, July 15, all 253 pupils across the school challenged themselves to a range of distances from a half kilometre course up to two kilometres, all while raising vital funds for children and adults with physical and learning disabilities.

Stephen Fytche, year four teacher at the school, commented: “I am so proud of all the children for taking on the challenge of raising money and participating in the fun run. They’ve all done the school proud, really embodying our vision phrase to inspire, believe, and achieve. It was a fantastic way to round off our Sports Week.”

Everyone received a thank you certificate to commemorate their participation, and every child who raised more than £10 received a Diverse Abilities t-shirt.

Cat Abbott, marketing manager at Diverse Abilities, added: “It’s really wonderful to be able to go out in the community again and help out with these fundraising efforts, and it was lovely to see the joy on all their faces when they found out how much they had managed to raise.”
