Dorset’s Disability Charity is looking for festival volunteers

Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, is looking for volunteers to help at this year’s Grooves on the Green festival at Ashley Cross.

The event takes place on Friday 27 June until Sunday 29 June with a weekend full of live music, children’s entertainment and plenty of good food. The charity are looking for volunteers to help on the Information Tent – giving information out about the event and the charity, in the craft tent – helping festival goers to get crafty and gate marshals on the entrance and exits of the festival to scan tickets and make sure the emergency exits are safe.

Grooves on the Green will be raising money for Diverse Abilities, a charity which supports children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities through services such as Langside School, a specialist school for children aged 2 to 19 and The Beehive, a therapy and activity centre for adults. Any help received or money raised will ensure the charity is able to provide the best support through their services to make every day better for the children and adults supported by the charity.

Becky Edwards, Marketing and Volunteers Executive at Diverse Abilities, commented: “Grooves on the Green is a fantastic event, and volunteers always have a great time getting involved in the festival. We are still looking for volunteers to help across the weekend, with various roles. We would love to hear from you if you are interested in getting involved.”

Volunteers are crucial to the work charities like Diverse Abilities carry out, and donating free time is just as valuable as giving money. The opportunities give volunteers a chance to learn new skills, meet new people, enhance CVs, gain experience, discover new interests and improve mental wellbeing.
