Meet Sarah, Advice Administrator

My name is Sarah Fowler. I am the Advice Team Administrator and I have worked for Diverse Abilities for 10 months. The 3 words I would use to describe myself are caring, kind and reliable.

Mostly I have worked in caring roles. I worked in domiciliary care for over 10 years as a Care Co-ordinator, as a receptionist in a care home and my last job before I started at DA was as a Housing Administrator for a supported housing company, helping the homeless, those with addiction, in rehab and Domestic Violence survivors.

Day to day, I answer calls and emails coming into the Advice Team, setting up new clients and sending paperwork. This includes scanning all documents for LPA, Mandatory reconsideration, and tribunal paperwork, FOAs, taking payment and other ad hoc admin duties.

I have not been here very long, but my favourite memory so far is the Big Sleep Easy challenge and raising money for the people who use the Advice Team.

Looking towards the future, I would like to expand my knowledge of benefits, so I can assist the team with completing applications and be able to offer more advice to clients when they call.

My advice for new starters is to make use of the support and training, and to appreciate the difference you can make to the people we support.
