Make a Difference

Recycling Initiatives

Make a difference in your local area with the smallest of actions - it all adds up!

Reducing waste is one of the key factors when tackling climate change. We divert tech products that were heading for landfill into a recycling programme for refurbishment and sale; of which the proceeds come directly back to Diverse Abilities. We also provide can recycling services where the cost of the aluminium recycled comes back to the charity too!

Can Collections

How does it work? We’ll provide you with the bin to collect the cans, and the clear bags to line it, and then once full we’ll arrange either a collection or explain the drop off process. These are then flattened by volunteers (or you can flatten them yourselves first!) so we can fit more in the skip, and once the skip is full, all the aluminium is taken off for recycling and its value is donated back.

If you’d like a can collection bin for your office, please click here to send us an email and let us know and we’ll arrange drop off. We’ll also provide you with details you can share on with your employees explaining the initiative.

Tech Collections

How does it work? We can accept the following at our collection points: laptops and PCs, mobile phones & smartphones, all Apple devices, tablets & eReaders (including Kindles), games consoles, digital cameras, smartwatches, cables, and accessories. Please make sure all information and accounts are wiped from the device before recycling!

When you donate a laptop, computer, or any piece of tech equipment, our recycling partners check it’s been wiped and securely clean all memory in a way that not only complies with GDPR but also destructs all data so you can be assured there will be none of your data distributed when your tech finds a new home. If the tech is deemed beyond use, all valuable materials are recovered and the resulting funds are split between Diverse Abilities and the recyclers. In this instance, devices are shredded for precious metals
