Project My Time

Project My Time provides holiday activities for children and young people aged 8 to 18 allowing them to develop independence while having lots of fun.

Parents do not need to stay for these sessions as our team provide the support throughout the session. There are sessions every week in the school holidays and are generally three hours long, depending on the activity.

How to access

Young people with disabilities aged 8 to 18 can join Project. If your child has complex needs, please contact us to discuss their needs in detail, and how we can best meet these.

Access to Project can be gained either through referral from a social worker (Dorset, BCP, and Hampshire Councils), or through parent self-referral.

Once registered, you will need to register yourself and your child on our parent portal SchoolsBuddy and email a completed care plan to us. If it is agreed we can meet your child’s needs we will add you onto our mailing list for the next school holidays. Please note, as it is the summer holidays registrations will not be processed until September.

What to expect

Trips and activities have included Chessington World of Adventures, Splashdown, pantomimes, bowling, swimming, crabbing, alpaca walking and much more.

Young people give feedback at the end of every session so their favourite activities can be incorporated into the timetable for the next school holidays.

School holiday sessions must be booked in advance, and you will receive the timetable and details when they are open for booking – there is a deadline to make your bookings by each time.

You will need to choose a first, second, and third choice of activity in order of preference before the deadline and you will usually receive one space per holiday week, if there are spaces available. After bookings have closed, we will allocate requests fairly and you will find out through Schools Buddy which activity you have been allocated.

Facilities at The Treehouse include a sensory room, cinema room, games room, soft play, fully accessible toilets and Changing Place, mini golf, outdoor play area and more. Free parking is available onsite and numberplates must be registered on arrival.

We also have a private Facebook Group where parents can communicate with one another and the Short Breaks Crew, and we like to use it as a place where we can share pictures of your children so you can see what they’re getting up to!

Costs

Dorset Council, BCP Council, and Hampshire Council have allocated some funding for a limited number of spaces. We ask for a contribution per session to allow us to provide the activities and support. If you are taking a funded space, we ask parents to book only one session per week to allow as many young people as possible to have the opportunity to join in.

After you have received your booking outcome, you will be able to pay for your sessions through SchoolsBuddy. We do ask for contributions to be paid in advance of the sessions to allow us to book activities. If we have non-payments for sessions, you will not be able to book a space on the next holiday.

In the event you need to cancel a session, please contact us using the details below at your earliest convenience. We tried to avoid cancelling sessions as much as possible as we understand this can cause upset and confusion, where an alternative can be offered we will try our best to facilitate this.

If there were to be a staffing crisis due to sickness, we do have a contingency plan. However, if we feel it is unsafe, we may have to cancel a small number of children. A record will be kept ensuring cancellations are made fairly and don’t affect the same child, within reason.

High standards of care

Although we are not required to be registered with Ofsted or CQC, our services are run as if they were and we aim to meet those standards.

Our supervisors have extensive training and are able to give medication and feeds during sessions. Staff are only able to give prescribed medication, and the medication must have a prescription label to prove this. The medication also needs to be in date and we must be able to see the expiry date.

If you would like us to give medication or feeds to your child, you must make us aware at the time of booking to allow us to allocate the correct level of trained staff for your child.

If your child requires emergency medication, please bring this medication to session along with a copy of their protocol.

You must completed a medication form (linked below), which is to be given to the supervisor at the start of the session. A new one needs to be completed for any session where your child will require medication.

We cannot accept these in advance as we are aware medication can change very rapidly, and we need to make sure what we are giving is 100% correct. Unfortunately, without these forms completed we will not be able to accept children onto the session as we need to ensure we can meet their needs and keep them safe.

Please bring any medication, feeds, syringes, and water required to give medication and feeds, along with the correct paperwork.
