Why the need for a Lasting Power of Attorney is even more important now

Ever changing COVID restrictions have made it even more important to have a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in place. Should you find yourself in a position of having to isolate, you may need another person with legal authority to manage official correspondence, go to your bank, or deal with something that cannot wait until you are back in a position to do it yourself. It makes sense that the person who is going to act on your behalf has been chosen by you because you trust them and because you know that they will act according to the instructions that you have given them.

So here you can see that the LPA not only provides security if you were to lose capacity to manage your own affairs, but it also allows you manage your affairs in situations of physical limitations.

It is important to start your Lasting Power of Attorney as soon as possible as the Office of the Public Guardian is now taking up to 20 weeks to register LPA documents, and LPA documents must be registered before your attorney(s) can use them.
