Volunteer your time to make a difference in Dorset

Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, is looking for volunteers to help with ongoing projects and community events throughout the year.

In the run up to Christmas, the charity is attending a multitude of Christmas events, taking part in bucket collections as well as hosting their own events including a Pop-up Shop, Christmas Biscuit Workshop and Christmas Carol Concert.

The charity is on the lookout for friendly volunteers with good communication skills to sell Christmas gifts at events, encourage local people to donate and spread the word about the services that Diverse Abilities offer. Volunteers with good present wrapping skills are also needed to help run a Christmas Wrapping Service at the Dolphin Centre between 21 – 24 December.

Becky Edwards, marketing and volunteers executive at Diverse Abilities, commented: “We love getting out and about in the community in the run up to Christmas, and this year we have lots planned including attending Christmas fairs, running a pop-up Christmas shop and bucket collections at local garden centres and supermarkets. We really need the help of volunteers so that we can attend all of these events, and to get the most out of our engagement with the community in the Dorset area”.

Volunteers are crucial to the work charities like Diverse Abilities, and donating free time is just as valuable as giving money. The opportunities give volunteers a chance to learn new skills, meet new people, enhance CVs, gain experience, discover new interests and improve mental wellbeing.

Visit diverseabilities.org.uk/volunteer for more information about the roles available. Contact Becky on volunteer@diverseabilities.org.uk if you would like to get involved.
