Outdoor Holiday Club Returns for October Half Term
Children aged 8 to 14 can enjoy adventure, creativity and outdoor learning this October half term at The Treehouse in Hurn, near Bournemouth Airport.
Nature Nook, an inspiring outdoor learning space run by Diverse Abilities, is hosting a holiday club designed to build confidence, curiosity and practical skills through hands-on experiences in nature.
Taking place during October half-term, the sessions will offer a variety of outdoor activities including fire lighting, den building, green wood crafts and bushcraft skills. Activities are led by experienced staff and are shaped by the interests and ideas of the children attending, encouraging exploration, teamwork and creativity.
Alongside games, sports and craft activities, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to safely use tools, with guidance focused on technique, responsibility and respect. Through a mix of individual and group projects, children can develop new skills, make friends and discover new hobbies in a safe, inclusive outdoor environment.
The holiday club is delivered by Diverse Abilities, with a team that has extensive experience supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities. However, these sessions are designed for children who can participate safely and independently within a group setting without requiring additional staffing or one-to-one support.
Lily Felstead, Short Breaks Deputy Manager at Diverse Abilities, commented: “We are really looking forward to welcoming people to the Nature Nook for some engaging outdoor sessions for all ages. We’ve got fantastic activities in our Nature Nook forest school area, including mud kitchens, a fire pit, den building, outdoor skills and a changing place, which we can’t wait to open up to the wider community.”
The Nature Nook Holiday Club is a drop-off session, meaning parents and carers will not remain on site during the day.
Sessions run from 8.30am to 3pm and cost £35 per child. An extended session until 4pm is available for an additional £5.
