It’s almost time to light up the night

The Dorset Neon Run returns to Poole Park on Saturday, April 23, in aid of Dorset’s disability charity Diverse Abilities.

Laps of the lake and cricket pitch make up the five-kilometre fun run for participants to run, walk, dance, or jog around during the colourful fundraiser. Entertainment on the night will be provided by Hot Radio and Hot Gold.

Entries are open now with tickets available from £15 per person, with the option to donate more on sign up and receive an event t-shirt. Participants are asked to raise £30 each if they are unable to make an additional donation on sign up to receive the event t-shirt.

Lucy Rowley, events coordinator at Diverse Abilities, commented: “Dorset Neon Run is a really fun event and as it isn’t time chipped it allows everyone involved to complete it at their own pace. We are looking forward to a day of fundraising in the heart of our community so come on down and get involved.”

Registration for the main event opens at 7pm and participants aged between 12 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

This year the charity is also offering a family-focused event earlier in the day – the Family two-kilometre – for groups of two to three or four to six to participate. Group tickets cost £15 and £25 respectively and include a bumper glow pack with face paints and glow sticks to get all dressed up on the night. The family fun run registration opens at 5pm and the run will begin at 5.30pm.

Kevin Scott, manager director at Hot Radio and Hot Gold, added: “We are passionate about supporting our local community including our chosen local charities like Diverse Abilities, who support those less able in our community and their ethos is like our own.

“We love using our resources to support their fundraising events such as the Dorset Neon Run in Poole Park. By jointly working together on these events we can have fun and at the same time help raise vital funds for this fantastic local charity which in turn enables them to do the amazing work they do.”
