Hoburne Group Support unveils new trampoline at Lily’s Place
The Hoburne Group head office, based in Christchurch, has smashed its annual fundraising target donating more than £10,000 to Diverse Abilities.
Knowing 2021 would be another challenging year for fundraising due to the COVID pandemic restrictions, Hoburne Group Support set itself a target to fundraise £3,000 over 12 months.
With the national lockdown at the start of 2021, the team used the opportunity to organise smaller fundraising events, including a virtual quiz, various sporting sweepstakes, and team members taking part in the charity’s Neon Run.
Its largest fundraising initiative was in the form of a zip wire, where 14 daredevil volunteers took on Velocity at Zip World in North Wales, braving the world's fastest zip line and raising over £7,000.
The significant sum has been hugely welcomed by the Dorset-based charity, enabling Diverse Abilities to purchase a brand-new trampoline for its garden at its children's respite centre, Lily’s Place.
Funding has also gone towards activity boxes at its Beehive Centre, plus additional staffing, and PPE costs.
Director of Hoburne, Rosie Kennar said: “The pandemic has put a huge amount of strain on the charity sector, and we knew 2021 was not going to be easy fundraising due to the COVID restrictions.
“We wanted to do something extraordinary that the team could get behind and the zip wire was a phenomenal success. Everyone involved felt a huge sense of achievement and pride to accomplish it.
“We’re thrilled to continue supporting the team at Diverse Abilities in their mission to provide extraordinary lives for extraordinary people, and we hope the new trampoline will bring joy to all that the charity support for many years to come.”
Claire Cooper, fundraising officer at Diverse Abilities, added: “We are so thankful to everyone at Hoburne head office for continuing to support our cause – they have been a fantastic partner to us over the years and aren’t afraid of challenging themselves when it comes to fundraising. We’re really looking forward to seeing what they all come up with next!”
