Diverse Abilities is on the hunt for volunteers

Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, is looking for a new collection of volunteers to help with a series of its own events and community events over the coming months.

Events on the calendar include:

  • Diverse Abilities own events; Country Challenge, an Art Exhibition, Rugby Lunch, Gala Ball and Christmas Carol Service, and the charity’s annual Christmas tree collection service.

  • Community events include Grooves on the Green and Camp Bestival, as well as street collections throughout the year, with further events to be confirmed.

Naomi Richards, fundraising officer at Diverse Abilities, commented: “We’ve got an exciting calendar of events on the horizon where we need the help of our local community in order to take on a variety of tasks including bucket collections, running stalls, and handing out flyers, as well as being a brand ambassador for Diverse Abilities.”

Volunteering is crucial to the work charities like Diverse Abilities carry out, and donating free time is just as valuable as giving money. The opportunities give volunteers a chance to learn new skills, meet new people, enhance CVs, gain experience, discover new interests and improve mental wellbeing.

Michelle Davey, volunteer for Diverse Abilities, added: “I love volunteering for Diverse Abilities. After a tricky year it’s been amazing to see their events take place again and even better to be part of them. It’s been very rewarding, especially when I know the great things they do with the funds, plus they’re a lovely, fun team to be with!”

Contact Naomi on volunteer@diverseabilities.org.uk for further details if you would like to get involved.
