Decorators for a day
Mazars, the audit, tax, and financial advisory firm based in Poole, sent a team of eight volunteers for a day of fundraising with Diverse Abilities’ Supported Living Service.
The firm offers its staff a free day of volunteering each year to benefit the local community. As part of the day’s volunteering, the team redecorated a kitchen, hallway, and two bedrooms in the home of two adults with physical disabilities.
Mike Field, director of restructuring at Mazars, commented: “We would highly recommend volunteering with Diverse Abilities to everyone. It gave us a chance to get together and have a good chat, all while making a difference. We’re all from different teams and as we haven’t had the opportunity to do this properly for a couple of years, it was a really enjoyable day for everyone involved.”
Some of the team had never taken part in decorating before, while others were able to support the team and share their own skills and advice for the task at hand.
Laura Stanley, fundraising administrator at Diverse Abilities, added: “We’re always on the look out for companies and community groups to get involved with sprucing up our services and keeping them in top shape for the children and adults we support each day. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Mike and the team at Mazars, the two chaps who live in the bungalow are absolutely thrilled with the result.”
The Support Living Service provides care in the home 24 hours a day, seven days a week for adults with physical and learning disabilities across its 21 bungalows. Visit diverseabilities.org.uk for more information.
