Colourful Family Run set for Poole Park

Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, has announced that The Family 2K is set to return to Poole Park on Saturday, April 22nd.

The Family 2K is returning following its successful launch in 2022, with it proving popular for the whole family to get active and raise money for a local charity.  The course is adapted from the main event in Poole Park with registration opening at 5pm and the fun run beginning by 5.30pm.

Participants are encouraged to dress as colourfully as possible. Early bird tickets are now on sale with a family ticket available for £10 for up to three people or £20 for groups of up to six. Additional child tickets are available at £2.50 for those with bigger groups. The charity asks that groups do not exceed two children per adult.

Lucy Rowley, events fundraising officer at Diverse Abilities, commented: “The Dorset Neon Run is always so much fun, and The Family 2K proved to be really popular last year. We are really excited to bring it back this year. It’s a great excuse to get fit with the family and enjoy the outdoors together, all while doing good for an organisation right on your doorstep.”

The Family 2K is followed by the Dorset Neon Run is a 5k fun run around Poole Park, lighting up the night with colourful outfits, neon glow, and live music provided by Hot Radio and Hot Gold. The event is not time-chipped, so participants are welcome to walk, run, jog, and dance their way around the course.

Kevin Scott, manager director at Hot Radio added: “We are passionate about supporting our local community including our chosen local charities like Diverse Abilities, who support those less able in our community and their ethos is like our own.

“We love using our resources to support their fundraising events such as the Dorset Neon Run in Poole Park. By jointly working together on these events we can have fun and at the same time help raise vital funds for this fantastic local charity which in turn enables them to do the amazing work they do.”
