Christmas Treecycling returns
Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, has launched its annual Christmas Treecycling service, sponsored by Waste Management Facilities and supported by Adventure Wonderland and BCP Council.
Bookings are now open to have your Christmas tree collected between Saturday 8 and Monday 10 January 2022, across 22 postcodes within the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole conurbation, and up and across to Ferndown, Verwood, and Wimborne.
Claire Cooper, fundraising officer, commented: “We’re thrilled to see the return of our Treecycling service, it’s a vital part of our fundraising each and every year and truly makes a huge difference in our efforts to continue supporting more than 1,600 children and adults with physical and learning disabilities.”
Collections can be booked online for a suggested £10 donation, and the charity’s team of volunteers will take to the Dorset roads over the collection weekend in January to ensure the trees are disposed of sustainably and recycled into wood chippings.
Claire continued: “Over the festive period we provide around 8,000 hours of care to everyone we support through our respite homes, domiciliary care, play activities, and festive parties. Our teams work hard to make sure we are always delivering high standards of person-centred care, and we are so proud of their continued ability to do this.”
Diverse Abilities is also recruiting volunteers for the campaign to help collect trees. Families and businesses with access to vans, pickup trucks, or buses should contact Claire on 01202 718266 to discuss how to get involved and help make a difference for the charity.
