A summer of crafting fun

Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s Disability Charity, is offering a range of craft workshops this summer.

There are plenty of choice, so you can try something different either with a group of friends or come along, meet new people and hopefully gain a new hobby.

Lush Bath Bombs‍ ‍

Wednesday 17th June – 6pm-8pm ‍ ‍

Lush Green Hub, Waterloo Road, Poole, BH17 0AE

It’s time to treat yourself. Come and join us at the LUSH Green Hub for an evening making bath bombs and origami.

In this workshop you’ll be making bath bombs, under the expert guidance of the LUSH team, who will also take us on a tour of the Hub, and we’ll even do a bit of origami too.

Watercolour Workshop ‍ ‍

Wednesday 1st July – 6pm-8pm ‍ ‍

Langside School, Langside Avenue, Poole, BH12 5BN

Hosted by local watercolour artist Lynda Larke, you’ll learn the techniques of watercolours, as well as create your own masterpiece to take home.

Over the course of the evening Lynda will explain the different techniques of watercolours including dry brushing, layering colours, washes, and using salts.

Block Printing ‍ ‍

Tuesday 1st September – 6pm-8pm ‍ ‍

The Treehouse, Merritown Lane, Christchurch, BH23 6DT

Led by Sunny Bunny Crafts, this workshop will teach you all about the basics of printing with Indian Printing Blocks.

There’s a selection of different patterns, shapes, animals, icons, letters, etc. to choose from so we’ll start off practising on scrap fabric and you’ll make a tea towel to take home with you.

Sea Glass Art

Tuesday 13th October – 6pm-8pm‍ ‍

The Treehouse, Merritown Lane, Christchurch, BH23 6DT

Create 3D artworks out of seaglass with Sunny Bunny Crafts.

This workshop will include the basics of composition and encourage you to embrace your creative spirit.

Your picture will be created to fit in a 15×15cm box frame, and there will be plenty of templates to spark your ideas.

All tools and locally sourced sea glass will be provided. Do feel free to bring your own seaglass to use if you have some.

Cat Abbott, Head of Marketing and Events at Diverse Abilities commented: “We can’t wait to share our new craft clubs with you this summer. It’s a lovely way to spend an evening trying something different or perfecting a skill you’ve tried before. You will also be raising money for a local charity supporting children and adults with disabilities.”

Visit diverseabilities.org.uk/events to find out more and book your place.
