It’s time for your

24 Challenge

Diverse Abilities provides round the clock care for children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities.  24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To help fund this lifeline of support for families, and in recognition of our amazing staff working night and day across our services, we have launched 24 Challenge.

Your support means we can continue to provide 24-hour care for children and adults in Dorset living with complex disabilities.

Together, we can make every day better.

Choose your 24 Challenge

We can give you lots of ideas, as well as guidance, for planning your 24 challenge.

It can be hard to decide what kind of challenge you want to take on so we've provided a list of ideas below that might inspire you. Whatever you choose, we'll be there to support you along the way.

Think about involving others with your challenge. Does this have to be a solo feat, or could others get involved too? You may find that people you know are willing to do your sponsored event with you. Alternatively, they could support in other ways, such as helping with publicity, sourcing raffle prizes, filming your efforts for a video, or writing a blog about what you're doing.

Your challenge could be over 24 hours, or even 24 minutes. It could be 24 days, 24 miles, 24 lengths, 24 metres, 24,000 steps - the choice is entirely up to you. The choice of activity is up to you as well - you could try something active like walking, dancing, Zumba, swimming, or running, or keep it indoors with a movie marathon, gameathon, knitting, Peloton, baking, or a sponsored silence.

How to complete your 24 Challenge

Step One - choose your date

Pick a date far enough ahead that gives you plenty of time to figure out all the details and logistics of your challenge.

Step Two - set a fundraising target

This is great motivation for you (and your team if you have one). It also encourages your supporters to give a little more as you edge closer to your goal.

Step Three - start fundraising

Join our Facebook Group to set up your fundraiser, or our JustGiving campaign, or download our sponsorship form.

Step Four - keep people interested

Use social media to tap into your network and keep everyone updated on how you’re doing.

Ideas for your 24 Challenge

Meet some of our Challengers

Luke & Joe

Brothers Luke & Joe walked for 24 hours straight up and down the 7-mile beautiful East Dorset coastline between Hengistbury Heard and Sandbanks Beach on Saturday 1st July. They contended with no sleep, meals on the go, blisters, sunburn, heat waves and rain. Between them and their group of friends they raised more than £3,000!

Amelie

Amelie has swum 24 lengths of her local swimming pool - the first time she’s ever swum this distance all in one go, and she managed it in less than an hour. Well done Amelie, you’ve done a fantastic job and raised more than £300.

Becky

Becky is covering an incredible 24,000 steps a day for 24 days. She’s loving the challenge and how it’s making her reassess how she gets around - whether it’s walking up to the office after dropping the kids at school or taking on mega hikes around the Dorset countryside after work, she’s on a mission to complete all 576,000 steps.
