Diverse Abilities has launched a new fundraising event for four-legged friends taking place at Shore Road Beach on Monday December 28 from 10am.
The event is a 5k fun jog from the beach at Shore Road up to Branksome Chine and back again. There are no timings and participants can walk if they prefer, all finishers will receive a special treat for their four-legged friends. The event starts at 10am will provide hourly staggered starts until 1pm to maintain social distancing and manage the registration process.
Sign up places are priced at £10 per dog, with groups of up to six to attend within the government guidelines. A competition will be held on the day for the best dressed dog, and its owners will receive an afternoon tea for two at the dog friendly Knoll House Hotel in Studland.
Karen Hay, events manager at the Dorset disability charity, commented: “Who doesn’t love a walk on the beach? Especially on a fresh winter day when you can blow out the cobwebs following a few days of indulgence.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer the special prize of an afternoon tea at Knoll House as well, it’s such a delightful venue right on our doorstep, a real hidden gem. We’re sure the best dressed pooch will enjoy treating their humans to a special treat there!”
The charity is currently seeking a headline sponsor for the event to help cover its running costs for the day. Bespoke packages are available and any business interested should email events@diverseabilities.org.uk for more details.
