Countdown to Paws on the Shores

The countdown is on to Dorset’s disability charity’s newest event, Paws on the Shores. Diverse Abilities is hosting an event for dogs at Shore Road Beach on Monday December 20 from 10am.

The event runs from the beach at Shore Road to Branksome Chine and back again and participants are invited to run, jog, dance, or stroll along the 5km route with their four-legged friends. All finishers will receive a doggy bag of treats from event sponsors Burns Pet Nutrition.

Rebecca Wilkinson, sponsorship officer at Burns Pet Nutrition, commented: “We are so excited to be a part of the Paws on the Shores event. We are passionate about bringing the community together to enjoy the outdoors, especially when it’s a walk or jog with your furry pal. We are so pleased to be supporting Diverse Abilities with their event and hope everyone has the best day!”

The event starts at 10am with hourly staggered started until 1pm in order to maintain social distancing and manage the registration process.

Sign up places are priced at £10 per dog, with groups of up to six to attend within the government guidelines. A competition will be held on the day for the best dressed dog, and its owners will receive an afternoon tea for two at the dog friendly Knoll House Hotel in Studland, second place will win a six kilogram bag of pet food from Burns Pet Nutrition.

Karen Hay, events manager at the Dorset disability charity, added: “We’re thrilled to be working with the team at Burns Pet Nutrition for this event, there’s some great doggy bags up for grabs for all our finishers, including a stylish bandana!

“This event is a great excuse to get out and about after all the Christmas food and festivities – to blow away the cobwebs and take a stroll along the beach with all our four-legged friends.”
