Night Team Leader - Children’s Team

Rate: £13.65 per hour

36 hours per week working over 3 nights on a fixed 2 week rolling rota - specific shift patterns will be discussed at interview.

Overall purpose:

The team aims to enable families that have children with physical and/or learning disabilities to cope day to day in the knowledge that their child is safe, supported and cared for. To ensure positive outcomes and the continual safety, health and wellbeing of the children and young people using Children’s Services.


This role requires staff to

  • Take responsibility for a child within the home/in the community, whilst team working for the care and oversight of others.

  • Follow each individual child or young person’s care plan and contribute to their continuing development.

  • Take responsibility for the dispensing and administration of children and young people’s medications.

  • Take the lead in emergency interventions for young people as necessary.

  • Assist where necessary all children and young people with intimate and personal care e.g. personal hygiene, feminine hygiene and bathing.

  • Oversee night staff team on duty, completing supervisions/performance reviews when needed.

  • Contribute to regular revision of care plans as required.

  • All documentation to be completed and filed by the end of the shift for each child or young person and any records that need to be completed, e.g. night report.

  • Discuss and report any concerns about the children or young people with senior staff.

  • Adhere to the highest standards of Safeguarding Procedures including completing body map forms as required and passing to lead support on shift.

  • Ensure all belongings go home with the child or young person at the end of the visit if staying in the respite home by completing bag checks.

  • Maintain the workplace in a safe, clean and tidy state following tasks set in Night staff file.

  • Attend and take part in staff meetings and play an active role as part of the staff team.

  • Attend all mandatory training courses, and be responsible for own learning and personal development.

Holding a full UK manual driving licence essential for this role.

It is a requirement of this role to have or be willing to undertake a Children’s Diploma Level 3.

This role will include shifts at Lawford Lodge (Young Adult Overnight Respite Home, Hamworthy) and Shapes domiciliary care service within a child’s home (Poole/Christchurch).
